Video Production & Editing

Below is a selection of miscellaneous videos I have worked on over the past few years. Some of these required a full range of video production and editing responsibilities that I was in charge of, from writing a script, to designing, recording and editing the location, lighting, sound, and color of the video. But some just required simple editing like a fancy slide show. And one just for fun as a personal project. Either way, the goal of all of these is to create a compelling narrative and keep the audience engaged. I feel I achieved that in all of these.

COLOR IS BACK!
2024’s Best Home Trends

In another video for Log & Timber Home Living magazine’s YouTube channel I was asked create a "vlog" video showcasing one our our editor's recent trip to a home design show in Las Vegas. I took the editor's handheld cell phone video and edited it together with her voice over narration to create a visually engaging story of her time walking the show floor. I had a rough outline from the editor, but had to figure out which shots best worked and how to cut them together to keep the pacing consistent. I then found background music that complemented the modern and techy vibe of this content and even synced it up with the dancing robots at the end.

Peek Inside this 450 Square Foot Colorado Cottage!

In this video that I produced for Log & Timber Home Living magazine’s YouTube channel, I was asked to take an existing home tour feature from print and turn it into an audio/visual home tour for YouTube. I took the editor’s recorded voice over narration of the story and created this compelling slideshow, mixed with ambient music and the photos and captions from the feature in print. This video was the best performing video on their YouTube Channel, gaining over 2 thousand views in just the first 4 days.

Love log cabins & timber frame homes? You can’t miss this!

This video I produced for Log & Timber Home Living magazine’s YouTube channel. I was asked to put together a short and sweet "Year in Preview" video showcasing all the different types of content the brand is planning on putting out into the world, across both print and digital channels. I worked with the editors to plan the script and content that went in, recorded the screen grabs, created intro and outro title graphics and edited all the pieces together to create this "mini commercial" for the brand.

What are Engineered Logs?

In another video for Log & Timber Home Living magazine’s YouTube channel I was asked create a "step by step" how-to video showcasing how engineered logs are made from a bunch of handheld cell phone video that was taken at an engineered log factory. I had a rough outline from the editor, but had to figure out which shots best worked and how to cut them together to make this make sense. I had to keep the pacing consistent and heavily edit the sound on some of these clips to remove the background noise to make the speaking parts more clear since the speaker wasn't mic'd.

YJ’s CBD Skincare Roundup

I was commissioned to produce a CBD skincare roundup video for Yoga Journal’s YouTube channel. This video required a full range of video production techniques from working with the editor to write the script, to staging & styling, to lighting, to sound recording, to creating title graphics, to editing. I also photographed all of the products for use in the video and on Yoga Journals website for the accompanying web article. This video has over 2.2 thousand views.

Tour this Little Lake Cabin in the Wisconsin Woods

In this video, I produced for Log & Timber Home Living magazine’s YouTube channel, I was asked to take an existing home tour feature from print and turn it into an audio/visual home tour for YouTube. I took the editor’s recorded voice over narration of the story and created this compelling slideshow with the photos and captions from the feature. I added a nature background soundtrack to complete the wild and natural look and feel of this home’s story. This video did extremely well on YouTube, going viral and gaining over 26 thousand views.

Bond’s Inception

This video was created as a personal project I did for fun and to test my video editing skills. Movie trailer “mashups” were a popular thing on YouTube a few years ago so I tried my hand with two of my favorite movies, Inception and Casino Royal. I challenged myself to recreate the original Inception trailer but with only footage from Casino Royal. I matched the Inception trailer cut for cut, and left in the Inception music and sound. I quickly noticed the parallels were uncanny and a lot of the same shots were used in both movies.
